East Japan Earthquake - March 11, 2011

What Happened?
Around 14:46 of March 11, massive earthquakes with the magnitude of 9.0 struck Sanriku Coast, Japan. Waves of tsunami of more than 7 meters swept cities and villages of Tohoku district off the Pacific Ocean, causing devastating human as well as physical damages. Tokyo also observed tremors with a seismic intensity of 5-strong, but damage there was relatively modest. Aftershocks still persist, particularly in Tohoku district.

Report of the Used Fund
On April 5, 2011, the Shorinji Kempo Group donated JPY 1,000,000- to each prefectual Shorinji Kempo Federation in the most affected areas of Iwate, Miyagi, and Fukushima, as well as JPY 2,000,000- to the Japan Red Cross Society. We will continue to see the circumstances and decide how we should use the fund.
