Finnish Shorinji Kempo Federation had a study session in Hameenlinna at 8th and 9th April 2006. We had a pleasure to have Sensei Mizuno 8th dan, official instructor of WSKO visiting us for 5 days. Also we had a high level kenshi sensei Anders Pettersson 5th dan and sensei Leif Kokonius 4th dan from Sweden, Taka Mitsuhashi 4th dan from UK and all branch masters from Finland.
On Saturday study session started at 10 o'clock and nearly 80 kenshi were attending. According Sensei example we started to practice proper hokei forms of Tenchin ken dai ikkei to dai rokkei as well Giwaken Dai ikkei to dai nikkei. Practice continued by basic foot work and body movement. It was excellent exercise for younger kenshi, but very useful also for more experienced ones. In afternoon separate groups according Kuy and Dan levels were formed and each group concentrating they own techniques. Once again it was nice to learn to know new friendly faces from other branches.
On Sunday after proper warm up studies continue with simple and effective Randori and self defence techniques. Sensei went through in theory and in practice what are differences between good and bad techniques: Good technique is possible to repeat successfully but bad technique just expose you to counterattacks.
Everything nice and interesting ends eventually and at 16.00 o'clock. Final words were given and travelling home started. Sensei Mizuno, Ilkka Virtanen, Seppo Ruusukivi, Taka Mitsuhashi, Damian Mitchell and Tiitus Tuohikorpi continued they travel to Helsinki. On Monday and Tuesday some sightseeing in south Finland was done and naturally, as it is Finland, sauna and dip into cold water was tried.
