Shorinji Kempo's Hollywood, USA Branch has been very active in its local community as well as recognized nationally in America. Black Belt Magazine is America's most recognized martial arts magazine. Kuramoto sensei was featured on the cover of Black Belt and Shorinji Kempo was the cover-story article for the first time in the magazine's 30+ year history! The article gave Shorinji Kempo some valuable exposure in America and the response to this Shorinji Kempo article has been an overwhelming success.

SK Hollywood Branch joined with the YWCA,Charter Television Cable and the womens' Oxygen Cable Channel to teach a womens' self-defense class. This was a 2-week class entitled

Hollywood branch was also invited to join together with the YWCA, Charter Cable and the women's "Oxygen" cable channel to teach a community women's self defense class entitled, "Fight Like a Girl". The two-week course taught women of all ages and was a huge success. Interviews and video footage from the course will later be shown nationally on television through the Carter Cable Network.

Kuramoto sensei and his assistant instructors were also featured in a Shorinji Kempo article that appeared throughout the United States and Canada in Martial Art Magazine, which is highly respected in America's world of martial arts. Another Shorinji Kempo article featuring Kuramoto sensei and Hollywood Branch kenshi will again appear in Martial Art Magazine later this year.

North America study session

In its short four and a half years, Hollywood Branch has been very busy and very visible in the community and America. Kuramoto sensei and his branch are committed to promoting Shorinji Kempo, not only in their community, but throughout the United States and Canada.
