Shorinji Kempo 60th Anniversary in Olivais branch, Portugal

Olivais branch kenshi decided to pay its modest tribute to Shorinji Kempo 60th Anniversary, celebrated last November in the Nippon Budokan in Tokyo (Japan), and organized their own small celebration last October 27, 2007 (Saturday).

Therefore, only two days and 60 years after the date that marked the foundation of our art by Kaiso So Doshin Sensei, in Tadotsu city, more than 60 persons of all ages, from seven month old baby (younger daughter of Olivais branch master Nuno Albuquerque) to older kenshi and family, all get together in the dojo to pay its tribute to the foundation of our art, and celebrate it with joy and friendship among all.

There was small technicall demonstrations from Olivais branch kenshi, some philosophical demonstration of Shorinji Kempo principles by Shodan Kenshi, the brothers Adriano and Ivan Pereira, and small lecture from Olivais branch master, Nuno Albuquerque, about what human values we should remind on these day, and also personal self-growth.

Again, as in other occasion, we invited family and friends to try with us some techniques, which was a very fun and participated moment, specially because of the many children and girls/women who participated. Congratulations all for your courage.

To start the party moment (food and drinks) we singed Happy Birthday to you to Shorinji Kempo, and opened a cake.

Hope you've enjoyed this 60th anniversary as much as we did. We're all ready thinking on the next occasion to have fun and train together our fine art of Shorinji Kempo.
