Study Session Donostia 2009 Report

On 2nd and 3rd May, the 2009 Spanish National Training Camp, recoginized as a WSKO Study Session, was held in Donostia-San Sebastian. Sensei Aosaka Hiroshi, Shorinji Kempo European Office General Secretary, was the WSKO official Instructor in the event.

Kenshis of all ages coming from the whole Spanish Branches attended this Study Session. Among them, it was especially prominent the presence of Portuguese kenshis, from Sintra and Oriental Branches.

The seminar took place in the magnificent facilities of the "Sala de artes Marciales de Donostia", a new municipal dojo built in 2007. It has the cutting-edge facilities, with 3 tatamis and provides the perfect atmosphere to the practice of any martial art. It is in fact, the usual place where Donostia Branch practices.

Throughout the 11 hours of practice, the instructors guided the presents in an intense journey by the different Shorinji Kempo technical training systems: chinkon practice, kihon training, goho and juho randory sessions and techniques by level, including also sessions of Gakka and Seiho.

The Study Session was finished by an embu demonstration. It was a benefic event so as both spectators and kenshis could help the assosiation called ADEMGI, that works with people that suffer multiple sclerosis.

At night, most of the kenshis enjoyed a gala dinner with a very good time outside the dojo.

During the Study Session, it was also held a Branch Master Meeting, where six new Branch were approved in Spain.

At the end of the Training Camp, many kenshis had a walk around the city. They could enjoyed the beauty of San Sebastian as well as its gastronomy, one of the major atractive of our city.
