Odessa is the administrative center of the Odessa province located in southern Ukraine. The city is a major seaport located on the shore of the Black Sea and the fourth largest city in Ukraine with a population of 1,029,000.

Odessa National University is one of the oldest in Ukraine. It was founded in 1865 as Imperial Novorossiya University by the Edict of the Emperor of the Russian Empire Alexander II.

Our branch was established as Shorinji Kempo Branch of Odessa national university ("Odessa Kokudai" is translation into Japanese of Odessa national university).

From the beginning of Spring the kenshi of our branch took part at the several public events which was held at the capital of Ukraine, Kyiv, and in Odessa city.

At the 20-th of March in Kyiv National University was organized 1st International theoretical and practical conference "Japanese culture and languages in modern Europe and Ukraine". As a part of introduction of Japanese Culture to Ukrainian citizens we organized the demonstration of Shorinji Kempo.

As a part of 64th anniversary of World War II Victory Day's festival in May 09 was organized joint demonstration by kenshi of Odessa Kokudai Branch and Naraen Branch. Such kind of Shorinji Kempo technical presentation organized per year by Naraen Branch, leaded by branch Master Anatoly Misjura.

We also took part at the sport festival which was held at May 23 at Odessa National University.

As celebration of 1-st anniversary of our branch establishment in the sport gymnasium of Odessa National University was organized joint practice. At the same place 34 kenshi from four deferent branches practice together: Odessa Branch (14 kenshi leaded by branch Master Meteshkin Yu.V.), Naraen Branch (10 kenshi with branch master Misjura A.I.), Kita Odessa Branch (1 kenshi) and 10 kenshi from our branch.

During the four hours all kenshi had an unique experience of joint practice within atmosphere of friendship and unity.

As a final part of this celebration kenshi of all branches also took part in the presentation Enbu-Sai.
