RELAY FOR LIFE KUALA LUMPUR (CANCER)

Relay For Life is an overnight team event in a carnival-like atmosphere to raise funds for the National Cancer Society of Malaysia (NCSM). Participants have lots of fun as they challenge themselves to complete a relay-style walk or run. Relay For Life has become the World's largest fundraiser, with event held in 23 countries, including 4000 events in America where it all began in 1985. NCSM plays host for the second time this year after a successful Relay For Life in 2007.Funds raised will be used to increase knowledge about cancer - its causes, prevention and early detection as well as research for more effective treatment and supportive care for Malaysians impacted by cancer.

The occasion theme is, Celebrate.. Remember...Fight Back!

Survivors Walk celebrate the strength of those living with cancer, the highlight of the event is the lightning of Luminaria, a very touching part of the event where the lightning of a candle in memory of their loves ones. A tribute that everyone will always remember. People gathered around the track to support the survivors and give encouragement to continue their life to the fullest. Crowds start to gather around dusk to experience this moving ceremony. Camping, Games & Entertainment are also part o this meaningful event.

Shorinji Kempo is proudly support the program. During the said event, Wilayah Persekutuan & Selangor branch leads by Branch Master Yacob Gabriel Samson, display such spectacular and interesting demonstration. Cheers heard among the crowd when Danial, youngest participant once more shows his extra ordinary skills in martial art. Danial started giving demo since he is 4 years old. The Wilayah team strongly supports the fights against cancer and will continue to inculcate among its members to give support to others who are in need. Like Kaiso So Doshin said once, "Half for your self and half for others". And for everyone who joins the said event, it's definitely a night to remember.
