Swedish Yudansha Gasshuku 2009
On the weekend of the 17th October 2009 the Swedish Federation held a Yudansha Gasshuku. In attendance were many Kenshi from branches within Sweden and also Kenshi from elsewhere within Europe; from Germany, France, and the UK. The event was held in the city of Karlstad and hosted by Anders Pettersson Sensei, head of the Swedish Federation and Shibu-Cho of Karlstad Branch.
The event kicked off on the Saturday with focus upon developing Kihon and Hokei. In the afternoon we took the lessons on kihon and hokei learnt in the morning and applied the principles to embu, improving the realism of our embu sequences. Saturday evening was a chance to relax together and strengthen friendships with some excellent Swedish hospitality at a restaurant in town.
Sunday's training was focused on looking at which techniques came naturally to the Kenshi. In the afternoon the group looked at Randori and also techniques for refereeing. Finally there was plenty of opportunity to practice techniques and much was learned from the host of excellent teachers present.
It was a memorable weekend of practice and Swedish hospitality in a beautiful City.
