Passo Fundo Shibu was founded by CLOVIS GUIMARAES DE SOUZA, Seikenshi, 4th Dan, by the year of 1997 in the city of Passo Fundo, Rio Grande do Sul State, South of Brasil, by the name of RS North Branch. Due to his job on State Justice there was a need for him to move from town to town, and because of that he had lived and created Branches in another two towns in Rio Grande do Sul Sate, that are, Tres Passos Branch and Erechim Branch.

Passo Fundo is a medium size city with a population of 170.000 people. It is located in the North Region of Rio Grande do Sul State. It is quite cold in the winter and hot in the summer. People who live here are very friendly and the city is a great place for spreading Shorinji Kempo's teachings.

As we live in a non wealthy country, there are some social problems, such as violence and poverty that we all have to face in order to improve our society. That's why we believe Shorinji Kempo and its philosophy has a great contribution for our strive to make this country a better place for living.

Recently, Passo Fundo Branch has moved to a new dojo rented for our local Shorinji Kempo Association. We believe this change will end up further developing Shorinji Kempo in our city.
This month, on October 11th, was held a Regional Embu Taikai. The event was taken in the city of Erechim, sponsored by Erechim Branch, with the participation of Passo Fundo and Tres Passos Branches. The objectives of the event were to improve contact and friendly relationship with members of different branches, to show techniques and to present Shorinji Kempo to the local community. The pairs presented their embu with the spirit of Riki ai Funi and in the end all of them were awarded with medals.

We are looking forward the next year's Regional Study Session to receive our sensei from Japan and other kenshi of the world.
