26th March - Solidarity Vigil for the Japanese Nation
Acknowledging the distance that disables the opportunity for us to directly support the affected families throughout Japan with food delivery, human labor or shelter to the people who saw their homes devastated by the massive wave, some Portuguese Kenshi and their families responded to the appeal made by Nuno Albuquerque Sensei (National Spokesman for International Affairs), to gather in front of the Japanese Embassy, on the latest 26th March.
Being such a close friend of our nation, with a long friendship treaty in the history of both our countries and a martial art with a strong philosophy that reinforces the unity between the two nations, it is our hope that this small initiative provides some hope and warms the heart of all the affected families and Kenshi.
The Japanese spokesman for Culture represented the Embassy, alongside the Portuguese committee during the two hours that this solidarity vigil remained, despite the rain that felt over Lisbon during that day.
Additionally to this initiative, the Portuguese Federation sent to WSKO Secretariat some donations gathered throughout the Portuguese branches to provide some gmaterialh help. Although all Portuguese people are enduring hard times, we hope that this small contribution helps to relief some worries of the Japanese people who receive the contribution through WSKO. In whatever ways we can, we will keep supporting our friends, following the teachings of Kaiso "Half for ones' own happiness, and half for the happiness of others".
