Shorinji Kempo Group
Reports from WSKO Branches
Sao Paulo Branch and Liberdade SP Branch, Brazil / Nov 2003
Contributor: Sao Paulo Branch Master Masao Hama

On October 26th, the Sao Paulo Branch and the Liberdade SP Branch of Brazil presented annual "hono embu" at the Kompira Festival organized by the Sao Paulo Kagawa-ken Club which has been closely associated with Shorinji Kempo.

It was a sun-blessed day like an early summer day, as if the sun was celebrating the festival. Shorinji Kempo Kenshi were all satisfied to have been able to show their best performance of their daily practice.

The embu kai started with Chinkon by all kenshi, followed by group and sotai embu by children and minarai kenshi, group and sotai embu by adult kenshi. Then kumi embu were performed by high school student kenshi who are the bearers of the future of Shorinji Kempo in Sao Paulo, by matured adult kenshi, by young male and female kenshi, and the branches' executive members. For the finale of the embu kai, all the members performed manji no kata, which invited thunderous applause.

After the event, all the kenshi joined drinking together praising each other for the good performance of the other.

Currently, the regular embu performance in Sao Paulo is this "hono embu" at Kompira Festival. Many kenshi positively suggested that we should open embu kai more often. I am sure that the embu kai for this time was a great success that I could see our kenshi were all positive and dependable. I hope to continue making our best efforts to develop Shorinji Kempo in this Sao Paulo region in Brazil. Thank you.

Kesshu.
