Salvaterra de Magos and Foros de Salvaterra Branches, Portugal / April 2012
- Contributor: Salvaterra de Magos Branch Master Jorge Monteiro

Occupation of Free Time (Social Activities)

In the past 2 of March, at the invitation of the Sports Sector of the Municipality of Salvaterra de Magos, the Yudansha of the Branches of Salvaterra de Magos and Foros de Salvaterra organized a moment of introduction in Shorinji Kempo at the Sports Pavilion of Salvaterra de Magos.

This type of activity takes place every year during the three holiday periods - Christmas, Easter and summer - and is a great tool for spreading the philosophy and technique of Shorinji Kempo in the community.

Under the guidance of Master's Jorge Monteiro and Nuno Monteiro, fifty children have experienced several simple ways of applying the techniques of the art with great joy and enthusiasm for 2 hours.

While the children were exploring the techniques presented, at the same that moment also served to allow the new black belts to gain experience in managing training sessions and to use their communication skills over medium-sized groups.

The continued collaboration with the Municipality has achieved a prominent position for the Shorinji Kempo in this area before the official entities and the community as a whole.

The feedback of the results of these initiatives usually results in the inclusion of new young members in local branches.

This activity was monitor by branch masters and the Kenshi Sofia Ana Monteiro (2nd Dan), Claudio Leal (1st Dan) and Jessica Ferreira (1st Dan).
