Foros de Salvaterra and Salvaterra de Magos Branches / May 2012
- Contributor: Branch Master Jorge Monteiro

Renovation and reorganization of the Foros de Salvaterra Dojo

Front view (main wall)
During the holiday of Easter, members of the Foros de Salvaterra Branch and Salvaterra de Magos branch dedicated their time to refurbish an old space where the Foros de Salvaterra kenshi trained.

The goal was to make this space more comfortable and inviting for both the students, and parents who regularly follow the activity of their children.

This project was planned to be conducted in three phases: first, remodeling and spatial organization. Second the construction of a bathroom and a dressing room and the third, the redecoration of the front of the dojo.

Rear wall
The first and second phases are completed. The third phase should be completed by next summer, during holidays.

Much of the idea, beyond the functional purpose, was also to encourage younger students to integrate themselves into the spirit of "samu" seeing it as part of the Shorinji Kempo Philosophy. In fact, both the older and younger have joined in a very smooth way and is now a pleasure to watch them, on their own initiative, leaving the dojo completely neat and clean, for the class that follows.

Waiting zone, secretariat and dressing room
While this action had an impact on the universe of students of the branch, at the same time it was a signal to the community that we always seek to improve everything we do and we take good care of the things that we are responsible.

Many people entered the Dojo to see the results and the compliments were not lacking.

Waiting zone

After being completed this project, our goal is to do the same in the Dojo of Salvaterra de Magos Branch.

As Kaiso said: " Not Doing It is the Same as Not Thinking It"
