Shokema Branch, Spain / May 2004

THE SHOKEMA BRANCH PARTICIPATES IN THE GREAT SPRING EVENT OF MARTIAL ARTS HELD IN MALAGA (SPAIN)

As occurs each spring Malaga one of the most famous southern Spanish city in the Mediterranean Sea, held a great event of Martial Arts. This meeting is a non-profitable event that joint national and international martial arts practices. The Shorinji Kempo participates in the event represented by the Shokema Branch within the FESK. This participation is happening since 1993, when it was founded. This is a Project designed specifically to help needy people and every year all the collected money is for charitable associations that requested for. This year the money collected during the event celebration was for the "Sagrado Corazon de Jesus" an association from Malaga.

The most important achievement of this event is that people joint together from different martial arts and shake their hands looking for a common goal that is to help other people leaving on one side any competition or dispute. It is a marvelous show.

The exhibition of Shorinji Kempo had a great success among the attendance public (over 2000 people) that enjoyed with the demonstration by Shokema members and also by other from different martial arts that participate in the event.

This year there was participants from Karate, Judo, Aikido, Ken jutsu, Wushu, Tai boxing, Taekowndo,Hapkido, Capoeira, Shaolin kunfu, Kenpo karate, Jiu jitsu, Kobudo and of course Shorinji Kempo by Shokema.


The shokema team showed a mix of passive and active aspects of Shorinji Kempo, from Zazen, goho and juho techniques by pairs, Tanen hokei to Juho against several adversaries; the later gained the major success and applauses among the public.


The Shokema team 2004 was integrated by:

Antonio Gomez (Shokema Branch Master), Patricia Rodriguez, Javier Gomez (instructor), Ernesto Zambrano, Francisco Munoz, Lorenzo Lopez, Antonio Garcia, Jose M. Paneque, Daniel Villalta, Nicolas Gamez,

Finally, the most important issue was that Shorinji Kempo played a great role in the event contributing to a good and beneficial action that is what really matters as the Shorinji Kempo Philosophy teach out.
