Spring Training Camp at Headquarters, Week C
Week C of the Shorinji Kempo Headquarters Spring Training Camp was held for 4 days from March 14 to 17, 2006, attended by 516 Kenshi from 38 university branches in Japan, one from the U.S.A, and one from Lebanon. Fourteen instructors taught the participants in the camp.
The participant from the U.S.A. is Mr. Shigeru Yokoyama, Branch Master of the Boise Branch, Idaho. He took 3rd Kyu rank and then moved to the U.S.A, where he obtained higher ranks upto 2nd Dan. In December 2004, he established a branch. The kenshi from Lebanon is Mr. Sam Majed, Branch Master of two branches in Beirut. He studied Shorinji Kempo in the specialist course of Zenrin Gakuen for two years. On returning to his homeland Lebanon, he established the first Shorinji Kempo branch in the country. These two branch masters, who are leading Shorinji Kempo activities in two different continents met at Hombu and practiced together.
During the training camps, blood donation cars from the Japan Red Cross Society visit Hombu. Training camp organizer encourages the university students to donate their blood, and many healthy young people joined this event during the lunch time of the camp.
