9th All-Japan High School Shorinji Kempo Taikai
For two days on March 25th and 26th, 2006, the 9th All-Japan High School Shorinji Kempo Taikai was held at the headquarters of the Shorinji Kempo Federation in Tadotsu, Kagawa of Japan. 670 high school students from 206 high schools in Japan participated in this event. The number of participants recorded the highest this year.
The embu categories were: female paired embu, female solo embu, female group embu, male paired embu, male solo embu, and male group embu.
The opening ceremony was held on the 25th, followed by speech contest and preliminary of the embu categories. Twelve individuals/pairs/groups were chosen for the finals.
On the second day of the Taikai, judges gave the participants their comments and give technical advises after the final round. Participated high school students reviewed the techniques in details with the instructors for improvement towards the next Taikai.
All-Japan High School Shorinji Kempo Taikai consists of two sections; embu section and speech contest. Miss Eiko Kawaguchi, Kyoto Girls High School, gave her speech on "How I should live in this age" and won the first prize.
