Shorinji Kempo Summer Training Camp at Headquarters, Week B
Week B of the Shorinji Kempo Headquarters Summer Training Camp was held for 4 days from August 15 to 18, 2006, attended by 160 Kenshi from Japanese universities. Nine instructors taught the participants in the camp. Female kenshi outnumbered male kenshi in this camp. There were 86 girls, 54% of all the participants. Twelve students volunteered to serve as staff. Half of them were female kenshi.
The theme of this year's Hombu summer training camps is to respect and develop the merits of each other. Mr. Tsunehiro Arai, President of the Shorinji Kempo Federation gave a lecture to all the attending students on this theme as well as the subject of the Shorinji Kempo's 60th anniversary we are celebrating next year.
At technical classes the instructors focused on pair practice so that the students master the practice method of "kumite shutai", working in pair. They helped the participants develop ability to communicate with each other with Shorinji Kempo as its tool.
On the third day the instructors Mr. Toshio Isogai, Mr. Kazuyoshi Masuda, Mr. Yoshiharu Takatsuji, and Mr. Yoshiaki Kimura, showed their excellent model performances to the students they taught in the camp.
