WSKO Asian Regional Study Session in India

The WSKO Asian Regional Study Session in India was held in the city of Chennai (formerly Madras) on March the 8th and 9th, 2003. It was a dry season in the country, exceeding 30 degrees centigrade.
The session was held on the grounds of the Church Park Girls School in Chennai.
Thirty-six members of the WSKO Madras Branch participated in the event.















Shorinji Kempo in India started with the establishment of the Madras branch in 1992. The first branch master was Mr. Kirti Futnani, who studied Shorinji Kempo at the headquarters in Japan. The current branch master, Mr. Anthony Maxwell, is the third branch master.

There are three more branches which were established by Mr. Vishal Dhamgaye during the period of February 2001 to May 2002 in the city of Nagpur.

Kanchipuram, where Buddhidharma is said to have studied, was the capital city in the 7th and 8th century, and is 2 hours by car from Chennai.
