Spring Training Camp at Headquarters, Week D

Week C of the Shorinji Kempo Headquarters Spring Training Camp was held for 4 days from March 27 - 30, 2007, attended by 349 Kenshi from 45 university branches in Japan, two from Finland, one from New Zealand. Eleven instructors taught the participants in the camp.









Mr. Juha Utriainen and Mrs. Aila Utriainen are from the Saynatsalo Branch of Finland. Mr. Utriainen is the current president of the Finnish Federation. He passed the 5th Dan grading test during the camp, becoming the first 5th Dan holder in Finland. Mrs. Utriainen also passed her Seikenshi 4th Dan rank, to be the first female with the rank in her country. They joined the camp after traveling in Kyoto.



Mr. Duncan Binnie is from the Auckland Central Branch of New Zealand. This is his second time to join the hombu training camp since his last visit three years ago. After his intensive training in the mornings and the afternoons in the camp and one evening at Hombu Doin with a lot of sweat, he headed northward to meet the parents of his Japanese fiancee for the first time for another chance to sweat.
