WSKO Asian Regional Study Session in Sri Lanka

The WSKO Asian Regional Study Session in Sri Lanka was held in the city of Colombo from March 14 to 16, 2003.

On the first day, 300 students from the local schools visited the demonstration of Shorinji Kempo's philosophy and techniques.

On the next morning, thirty people came to become new Shorinji Kempo members.

Sri Lanka has had an internal war for 20 years. However, a cease-fire agreement was realized and the country is now walking on the path to towards peace. WSKO Kenshi in Sri Lanka wish to promote the teachings of Shorinji Kempo in the country to further the peace and the development of their own country.

Mr. Sirath, Branch Master of the Biyagama Branch in Sri Lanka, works for the Ministry of Human Resource Development & Education. Through his introduction, the WSKO delegates were able to meet the Minister of Human Resource Development & Education, who is also Minister of Education. The Minister showed an understanding towards the Shorinji Kempo as a method of educating young people.
