August 28 - September 1, 2007
Hombu Summer Training Camp Week B

Week B of the Shorinji Kempo Headquarters Summer Training Camp was held for 4 days from August 28 to September 1, attended by 435 Japanese university students, one from Tanzania and one from Australia.

Two of the participants new to Japan were welcomed at the opening ceremony.




The first program after the opening was by Instructor Kazuhiro Kawashima, explaining the steps to learn techniques of the same ken classification, showing hokei of the same groups such as uchi uke zuki, tsubame gaeshi, then chidori gaeshi as an example.




Mr. Michael Robinson Titi is a 3rd Dan kenshi of the East Coast Mzizima Branch, Tanzania. He is one of the original members of the Dar-Es-Salaam Branch, the first branch in Tanzania started in 1995. He has made his dream come true coming to Japan, fully supported by the Tanzanian President.





Mr. Robert Gassin, from the Melbourne Branch of Australia, started his Shorinji Kempo practice in 1983, passed his 1st Dan test in 1987. He took his 2nd Dan test during the training camp, after 20 years since his last grading test. He was given the certificate at the closing ceremony.
