September 2-5, 2008
Shorinji Kempo Summer Training Camp at Headquarters, Week C

Week C of the Shorinji Kempo Headquarters Summer Training Camp was held for 4 days from September 2-5, 2008, attended by 205 Japanese university students, one from Portugal, one from Sweden, and two from Singapore.

The four kenshi from non-Japanese branches introduced themselves in Japanese at the opening ceremony, and were warmly welcomed by the Japanese students and instructors.

Mr. Fernando Filipe, Ajuda Branch Master of Portugal, is attending the camp for the second week. His friendly personality and lovely smile helped him pick up a lot of Japanese phrases and make friends with other participants and hombu staff during his stay for two weeks.

Mr. Johan Mjoberg from Stockholms Studenter Branch, Sweden, visited Hombu again after his first visit in 2005. After the concentrated daily program, he stayed in dojo for extra practice in the evenings.

Mr. Tay Leng Ong and Mr. Cheong Lip Sin are from Singapore IOE Branch. They have been 1st Dan for a very long time, and at last they decided to come to Hombu for their 2nd Dan test. They successfully passed the test and received the 2nd Dan certificates on the stage at the closing ceremony of the camp from WSKO Board Chairperson Tsunehiro Arai.

All the participants do "samu" before and after the program in the morning and evening every day, as one practice of "gyo" of Shorinji Kempo.

WSKO kenshi also enjoyed wiping the floor of Hondo by their hands with cloths, racing from one wall to another, and here they are happily washing the samu cloths after their race.
