March 28-31, 2012
Shorinji Kempo Spring Training Camp at Headquarters, Week D

Week D of the Shorinji Kempo Headquarters Spring Training Camps was held for 4 days from March 28th to 31st, 2012, attended by 146 students from 25 Japanese universities, one from Germany, two from Malaysia, five from Italy, six from Australia, two from Russia, and two from the U.K.

From Germany, Mr. Douglas Beard, Heidenberg Branch Master joined the spring camp again following the last year's. After the whole program of the day, he even attended Hombu Doin practice when the group gathered.

From Malaysia, Mr. Julian The Soon Wee and Ms. Alia Hilyati Attmad Anuar are Kuala Lumpur Branch members. It was their second participation in a Hombu training camp. They learned more painless balance breaking techniques in juho.

From Italy, Mr. Maurizio Carugati (Milano Branch Master and Vice-President of the Italian Federation), Mr. Luca' Cosimo (Milano Ovest Branch Master), Mr. Giacomo Casalnovo (Saronno Branch), Mr. Luigi Palmiotti (Mirano Branch), Mr. Simone Priolo (Italia Como Branch) attended the camp. The federation is preparing for the national Taikai in mid-May, that is strengthening their bond even tighter. Mr. Priolo is currently learning Japanese at university, and helped his seniors with communication.

From Australia, all from the Gold Coast Branch, Mr. Yoshiaki Nagai, Mr. Kiyoshi Sugiyama, Mr. Keishi Fujii, Mr. Kurt Reppenhagen, Mr. Donald McIntyre, Mr. Glenn Barry flew to Japan. Three of them passed the grading test during the camp; Mr. Ruppenhagen passed 1st Dan, Mr. Fujii passed 2nd Dan, and Mr. Sugiyama passed 3rd Dan. As did in the last year's camp, Mr. Barry brought "DIDGERIDOO", a traditional Australian musical instrument, with him and played it for all the participants, giving them some taste of the Australian tradition. Some Japanese students volunteered playing the instrument and brought warm laughter from the audience.

From Russia, Mr. Anatoly Lukutin, Volgo Branch Master, and Mr. Alexander Sofronov, Baltika Branch Master, came to Hombu. They opened their branches respectively in 2010. Their branches are still young, but they show their sincere attitude toward their training and branch operation.

From U.K., Mr. Elliott Dalton and Mr. Stephen Rizzo, both from the Peterborough Branch, came to Tadotsu for the first time. They learned the techniques, but more than that they seemed they were impressed by the spirit of Shorinji Kempo, to respect each other.
