2003 Eastern North-America Regional Study Session

From Saturday, October 11th to Monday, October 13th, 2003, the 2003 Eastern North America Regional Study Session was hosted in Ann Arbor of Michigan, U.S.A. The three instructors sent were WSKO Official Instructor Yoshimi Akiyoshi (Seihanshi 8th Dan), WSKO Official Instructor Masashi Nosaka (Junhanshi 7th Dan), and WSKO Secretariat Staff Nobuyasu Kuramoto (Seikenshi 5th Dan). It was attended by 56 Kenshi from 13 branches in Canada and the U.S.A.

Technical lessons were given to three divided groups. Kenshi with 3rd Dan and above were taught by Mr. Akiyoshi, 1st and 2nd Dan Kenshi by Mr. Nosaka, and Kyu Kenshi were taught by Mr. Kuramoto.

Two lectures were given to all the participants during the study session. Instructor Akiyoshi talked about "Purposes and values of training," while Instructor Nosaka talked about "Go ju ittai."

During the study session, Q & A session was held every day. Many Kenshi showered questions on the instructors and asked for advices. Instructors were always surrounded by enthusiastic Kenshi.

This study session offered opportunities to shorten the distances between the instructors and Kenshi, as well as Kenshi and his comrades.
