Japan Foundation Athletic Instructors' Exchange Support Program "Shorinji Kempo Demonstration in South America"


Study Session in Brazil
Sponsored by the Japan Foundation, the Shorinji Kempo Federation held "Shorinji Kempo Demonstration in South America" from June 15 to July 7, 2004.

This event aims to exchange cultures of Japan and other countries through introducing Shorinji Kempo. The Shorinji Kempo Federation has participated in this project for the last ten years sponsored by the Japan Foundation.


Demonstration in Chile
Dispatched members for this time were: Masanori Nagata (Seihanshi 8th Dan / WSKO Official Instructor), Kazuhiro Kawashima (Seihanshi 7th Dan / WSKO Official Instructor), Takashi So (Junhanshi 6th Dan / WSKO Asst. Secretary-General), Chikara Shimura (Daikenshi 6th Dan), and Nobuyasu Kuramoto (Seikenshi 5th Dan).

The delegates visited Brazil, Chile, and Cuba, giving public demonstrations of Shorinji Kempo. Each performance was accepted by a large audience who experienced some ideas of the techniques and the philosophy of Shorinji Kempo.

Addition to the demonstrations, they held a study session in Brazil which was a success as previously reported, and a seminar in Chile where the delegates exchanged friendship with the local Shorinji Kempo members.
