Shorinji Kempo was founded in Japan in 1947 by Doshin So. It was formed as a way or practice for developing one's personality with confidence, courage, and mercy, to be helpful to the society through a combination of learning, mastery of techniques, and a unique educational system.
It teaches you the way to be self-dependent, and to help each other to live in mutual happiness.
Shorinji Kempo is the only one entity in the world. Its activity with the purpose of social contribution through developing quality of people is being promoted in wider areas among people with good mind in 33 countries worldwide.
In July 2009, to the kenshi in Indonesia who have recovered from the disastrous tsunami in Aceh and are working for the future of the country, the fellow kenshi from around the world will come together to join and demonstrate and appreciate the accomplishments of each other. To refresh and retain the spirit of establishment of the self and mutual cooperation, the core elements of Shorinji Kempo philosophy, we will hold this event "2009 Shorinji Kempo World Taikai in Bali, Indonesia" in Denpasar, Bali.
Also we will implement a charity event to raise fund to assist in the protection of the mangroves on the shore of Sanur, Bali, as one social contribution, which is the principle of Shorinji Kempo.
